A birthday card I whipped up for my Grandmother today.
I don't think I've touched these markers since High School...

3D Character Rig Design Contest
towards the end of this Spring quarter, there was a contest for students to make a design for a male and female character which will be modeled and rigged - a rig that will represent SCAD (same as Bishop represents Animation Mentor). It will be used by students in the future, and hopefully for animators away from SCAD as well!
Just heard back today, and I won the contest with these sexy fellers:
They wanted something that could be animated in a very cartoony manner, and something that could just as easily portray subtle and realistic acting. I feel that these designs aren't necessarily my strongest, but I had to hold back to make sure they would be generic enough for the general public to use for whatever purpose.
I sneakily put the androgynous name 'Alex' on there, hoping it would stick. Being short for my name, SCAD students will remember me forever! ... I doubt they'll keep it though. I hope they do.
Since I've won the contest, I'm now the on-team artist for this rig project. I'll be designing clothing and morphing options for these characters.
Since I've just recently started taking 3D animation courses, and am gradually growing more and more excited about animating in Maya, I'm hyped to be able to animate with something that's designed similarly to what I would animate for fun in 2D. The Rig's first version release will be around November I think, so I'll update when I hear more!

I am temporarily releasing the short fifteen second animated short test I did for the Snow Maiden. This is just a composite test so that I have a better idea as to how I'm going to go about the Snow Maiden production pipeline.
backgrounds in Photoshop, animation in Toonboom Animate Pro 2, and compositing was done in After Effects.

Here's a layout I did as a test for my senior film. There will be a few complicated camera movements, so I need to make sure I know how to iron them out.

Unorganized large file. I'm in the process of piecing together my Model Sheet packet for the Snow Maiden. The scanner I have in WA doesn't scan as well as I'd like, so the final will be rescanned once I get back to school in Savannah.
